Alot of folks come to bikeweek for their winter vacation, many trailer from the frozen north, unload around Daytona and ride to the Keys down one coast and up the next. Some areas are overrun with retired folks just riding along and working folks trying to pass them creating Hectic Rush Hour Traffic. An alternative to consider for some good relaxed country riding is the center of the state. Highway 17, 441, 27, 98 are great roads and usually an easier pace. Do a little googling maps if you ain't in a hurry. Ride safe.

Great info. Thanks Silver : :

When I lived in Titusville I rode A1A quite a bit. I'd usually start in Cocoa Beach and head south until I got tired and turned around...

The east coast oceanside, Ormond Beach area north of Datona is beautiful, still some woods left. South of Daytona on Rt.1 all the way to Vero Beach is another excellent ride, mostly has been locked in the 70's since the big Cape Kennedy lay off ack then. Lots of woods and beautiful old town scenery most the way.

In '08 I rode a combination of A1A and 1 from Ft Lauderdale north, ended up on the Mayport Ferry. Very nice ride.

What is the Loop? I'll probably be back in Florida in April.

Just about 8-10 miles north of Daytona is Ormond....The loop is a popular scenic ride.....If your in the area you should try to ride it.  It's a very nice ride......Grabbed the next bit from online....

The 23-mile Loop, in and north of Ormond Beach, is a place where history beds down in Spanish moss hanging from ancient oaks, where fisherman while away time at the edge of saltwater marshes and motorists poke along, soaking up the beauty of it all. Along the way are shell mounds left by native Indians, the ruins of sugar mills, and state parks with rivers to paddle and trails to explore.
