You can use an image from your computer as your profile background or you can paste MySpace codes for your background or your entire layout.

1.
Add a MySpace background or full layout
 - Grab the code you want for your background or layout, and paste it in the CSS box at the bottom of your DESIGN MY PROFILE page where it says: CSS ( Advanced Users ).

2.
Add an image from your computer
 - you may need to resize your image to fit your background how you like it.  This is by trial and error until you find the size you like for your background.  You also need to load your image last....after you have picked the colors you want for the different parts of your profile.  There is a guide that will show you all the different parts you can edit for color and transparency.  To find the guide, go to the DESIGN MY PROFILE page, and in the top left corner, look for this: [ View profile layout guide ]  Remember, upload your image last - after you add all your colors.

Here's what you should see in your DESIGN MY PROFILE page:

Photobucket

The 2nd line on the top of that page lets you reset your profile to its original design.  The 3rd line on the top of the page gives you the guide for customizing all parts of your profile.

Where it says Background Image, this is where you can browse your computer for an image you want as your background.  By trial and error, you may need to resize your image and upload it again until you find the size you want for your background...or find a different image that fits better.  Sometimes the "changed" background image won't show up right away. Clear out the old image and save your profile.  Then go back in, add the new image, and save it again.  Now it should show up.

The 3rd box down in the picture is where I put "transparent" for the color.  This will show more of your background pic through your profile.

Here's some help from Johnny_Roadkill.

One option is to "upload" something you already have on your computer.  Any picture you have or virtually anything from the web that you've saved.

STEP 1
From the HOME page click on MY ACCOUNT tab.

STEP 2
Click on the SETTINGS tab.

STEP 3
Click on DESIGN MY PROFILE.

STEP 4
Click on the BROWSE button next to the Background Image field.

These steps will open up access to your own computer. I'm going to assume you have at least the basics to find your pictures or things you might have in My Doccuments.
