At 50 years old I have built a lot of bikes, made a lot of runs and got a lot of tail. I have fought and worked over seas. I have met many people and seen a lot of freeky shit. But the one thing that realy messes with my head is the way bikers have changed over the years. I heared an old biker, ( Yes, older than me ) say the word BRO means bend right over and i must agree. Where i live, we have miles and miles of great roads. I have invited no less than 4 clubs to do a run here to raise money for our fire dept or aging servises.not one return call. Seems they are too buisy planning runs that get then TV exposure. Brotherhood is no longer a way of life but a state of mind. When our numbers were few, we stood tall and we were there to help our Bro's. If you have a true friend guard them well, there are so few left... I would love to know what YALL think... Daddy Ray

I agree with ya on that.  I'm 53 and have been riding anything with 2 wheels since I was 4.  What happened to the brotherhood of the old days ?

Hey D-Ray, I'm 50 and been on two wheels since my buddy and I got a couple of old sportsters in High School.  It was different back then for us too.  We road together until we both got married and that did us in for a while.  We made a bunch of friends along the way, and what a long strange trip it was.  I should meet up with him again now that we are both single and riding.....He was my bro then and now too, just kind of lost touch.  Good post man - Let's hear from the others??

been out on two wheels  seems like forever -brotherhood is still there but you have  to bring it with you from the past -I have about 15 friends that I have kept from the old school days -hard to get em together at one time unless death has fell in our laps  -but there was a certian way back then when  we were the few and it was not popular  and times have changed -our generations are not taught the same values-some of us gave our kids everything and  we didnt kick their asses -schools gave out condoms and  to some life has no more value than a video game ...not all ...that is the worst of life  but the mentality  is different in todays society and all the kool dudes gets a bike -a big one and go to sturges on their madian voyage-idiots ,lucky if they live -some tun out alright and some ride just like they think- selfish.........'brotherhood can still be seen -mostly in closed groups like  the 1% of the riders  and in some of us- I have always been independant but I ain't blind, I cant spell and I made one long ass runon sentance and I got way off of the subject,sorry... In conclusion life ain't always beautiful ,but it's a beautiful  ride~~~Reddog

Well I guess I have to get my 2 cents in. Being a red head also I can loose my cool but takes awhile. I don't ride my own (wrists were paralyzed at one time so too weak) Became a biker after a divorce in 1990 and had lived the yuppie lifestyle .  I was taken to a biker bar in Illinois (first time )  Rest is history  I never met a greater group of people.  They helped me thru a very hard time and I learned the meaning of friendship from them.  I even ended up working as a bouncer there for a year.   Guess being a short fiery red headed dago helped there.  LOL
I moved to AZ 4 years ago and have found no brotherhood or sisterhood at all.  People are very  into themselves.   I have seen bikers pass others with no acknowledgement. Even seen bikers pass others in need. I at first just thought it is AZ bit I am learning it is not.

Is it the RUBS who have no clue what the lifestyle is about? Or have the numbers of old school dwindled so much that they are rare on the road?  Maybe it is a sign of the times that it is everyone for themselves and screw others.  I sure hope it isn't that.   Dakota

To All.
Thank you for all the replies to my post about Brotherhood...! I must admit, When I wrote it ,I just knew I would just be beat down. Told I was full O shit. Reminded of the many thousand bikers that gather every weekend and holiday to raise money for there charity or event and for the most part you would be right. Lots of money is raised by good people and for good reasons. But that was not my point and thank god those of you that responded knew that. There are many of you that see what I see, so many new riders that don't have a clue. People that think just because they can afford the bike, the life style is included in the purchase. Miss Dakota said it best, People that do not acknowledge you when they pass or those that drive right by if you are sittin on the side of the road. Hell we all got stories I guess. Thanks again All. Nice to have found so many like minded BIKERS.

Hi y,al! Storminsteve, earned the name when i was very young. Have always been. Biking had always been my getaway, my source of freedom, and my conection with the best of friends. Over the last idk maybe ten years as the harley scene has become more and more "trendy", i see the hole new biker image.its not the same old bros theme I grew up with but more the fashion statement, it really chaps my as to have these new breeders buzz by and not even give a thumbs up or a wave or  a "v". They fly by when your down on the curbside and dont stop to offer a hand much less do anything that resemles "brotherhood". I recently thought it would be fun to join a corvette club since my wife and I bought one. They are the most stuck up self centered group I have ever came across too. ....what can you do?...
Hey rick!!   my first Harley was a 1963 "basket-case" bought the old pan for 1200 bucks back in "79" from and old lady who had it sitting in her barn, I built and rebuilt her about 6 times over the course of 20 years, she was my only ride when I was in Arizona to go to MMI, had to sell her to pay for the school bill......
