Hi all...I lost my cell phone...AGAIN!
OK....I know what ya'll are thinkin...but there's a perfectly logical explaination!
I was driving north on river ave...and a mama duck and her 100 baby ducks...(well, that's a bit of an axaggeration! but there were at least 12!) was crossing the street (this is a 3 lane, 1 way road!) so I stopped to let them cross, put my flashers on, and waited...
almost all of them were able to make it up onto the curb to follow mama, except for 5. So, they're waddling along...hugging the curb...stopping every 12" or so to take another curb-jumping attempt! 3 of them made it!!! YA!!!!
WELL... the other 2 continued on...trying to jump the curb...couldn't do it...so continued waddling along the curb...
We come up to the storm drain in the road... 1 of the ducklings was a smart little shit...seen the holes in the drain...and scooted around it! Well... the 2nd little buuger...NOT SO SMART!!! Walked right into the drain...flop! YUP!!! I was like~~~ OH HELL NO!!
So I parked my truck...got out and was looking into the storm drain to see if the baby was alright...and... YOU GUESSED IT...PLOP...there goes my phone...INTO THE FUCKING DRAIN!
So, Steven, my grandson...goes scootin down the the sidewalk...because the other little baby is just a bookin north...not even heading towards his mama!!! He finally catches the little booger, brings it to where the mama and the other babies were. I use his cell to call 911...they think I've lost my mind and blow me off...pretty much dismissed me completely!
SO... I get home...call the waste water treatment plant...they said to call the city of Holland...so I did. I went through this story like 5 different times...Tammy, @ the street department, said she would see what they could do. I called back at 4:30pm, and they had rescued the baby duck! No luck on the cell phone though...they said that they would check the other side today...
Well, as my luck would have it...OF COURSE they didn't find it! They suctioned the drain and everything! Said it was probably in the belly of a carp! DAMN IT!!!!
At least the baby duck...(i know, i know...duckling)...was rescued.~~~ and that does make me happy... but, DAMN, I could've had a couple of really nice duck dinners for the $50 deductable that the insurance co. charged me for a new phone... ASSHOLES!
MORAL OF THE STORY~~~~ being concerned about nature and it's inhabitants is a costly venture!
ALSO, ALONG WITH THE FACT THAT I LOST ALL MY PHONE NUMBERS! SO...CAN EVERYONE POP ME AN E-MAIL AND SEND ME YOUR PHONE NUMBERS!!!! padriesenga1199@sbcglobal.net, or on here is fine!
thanks all...hope you enjoyed my story and have a good laugh on me! PEG
