What is a Veteran?
Posted On 06/18/08 @ 11:04 am by sbrbrat

A Veteran -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America', for an amount up to and including his/her life.  That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Though not directly implied in your blog comment, not one single U.S. administration has ever been so relentless in it's attempts at cutting ... and actually cutting ... veterans benefits than George W. Bush and his Rethuglikan administration.   The very day that Bush made his infamous "Mission Accomplished" pronouncement (aircraft carrier landing/photo-opportunity of May 1, 2003), he signed legislation that changed the way veterans are treated.  Bush's intention was that by declaring "Mission Accomplished" (major hostilities over), vets were then considered "Peace Keepers" and not entitled to service-connected disability benefits.  The $250.00 enrollment fee was implemented, and also the copay for meds if a veteran's problem wasn't at least 50% service-connected.  And consider trying to prove to the VA that your PTSD was service connected ...... HA HA HA, what a f*cking joke.

Anyway, I'll provide detailed FACTS to anyone about this ... there is actually much more info on Bush's band of f*cking CHICKENHAWKS (those who promote wars, but never, ever served their country or fought in a war).  I'm probably messing this up right now, because this topic causes me to go freakin' ballistic.  Add the fact that our soldiers were exposed to known HAZARDS such as DEPLETED URANIUM MUNITIONS, that have a half-life of 4.5 BILLION Years.  This administration has ZERO REGARD for VETERANS !!!!!!!

Challenge me on this, I dare you!!!!  Talk to Veterans and Veterans Groups.

Those 'too many people' don't want to know anything that disrupts thier safe little world. I spent a lot of my childhood around vetrans, at the VFW. My grandparents were very active members. They hold the utmost respect in my world.
