Who you calling Bro ?
Bro: short for brother or Brotherhood used to have a special meaning.
To many people in the motorcycle world it meant a true kinship in the brotherhood. It wasn't a word to be used lighty.
Your Bro should be someone you know and trust like well....your brother ! Somebody you can count on in a tight spot. Somebody you can call for help with just about anything, anytime. Hell he's probably the first person you call on when your thinking of going on a ride for the day or for a few weeks on the road.
Bothers by blood is easy...it's a clear definition. Being brothers by right of passage, a sacred bonding is a little harder to define.
Seems like everywhere I go I hear the word Bro being tossed around. Mostly I notice it from people who ride motorcycles. No I didn't use the word bikers...that's a whole other blog.
Just because you have a bike does not make you my bro...but it's not just there. At work, around town...people who know nothing about motorcycles, social gatherings etc... I hear people calling each other Bro.
Hell I just opened the door at 7/11 yesterday for the Pepsi delivery guy and he said "thanks Bro"
A customer at work I've never met before wants something for nothing and he says "come on bro...help me out"
When I comment that the parts I'm buying at the Harley shop are expensive. The guy at the counter says "that's just how much they are brother"
So is it a word that has lost all true meaning ? Has it been used so many times that even I don't respect it anymore ?
I'm really not sure.....
Hell I'm still trying to figure out the whole bad means good thing.
