Phillip Butler graduated in the top 1/4 of his class at the Naval Academy and won medals and awards for heroism.  John McCain graduated 894th out of 899 in his class at the Naval Academy and was scurried off the deck of the Forrestal, as his mates fought for to save their ship and comrads.
