...what is so good about "goodbye's?"
Posted On 10/26/08 @ 10:34 am by SherAKiss

How it would be so nice to be able to go for a ride today. However, about 2 weeks ago was the last ride I will have in a long time, for 2 reasons. One, I live in Ohio and it is too cold for riding now...too cold for me anyway! When the man I was seeing rode off I knew I was saying "goodbye" to the bike and gearing up for a long ass miserable winter. Second, the man is now gone, too. For a much longer time than for the winter. Sure, spring will come, the Harley's will be rumbling by and I may meet someone who I can enjoy riding with again someday. But, today, I am sad. In a way, I am glad it is cold....for I am not hearing the sound of the bikes, which makes the healing even worse for me. A constant reminder of one part of the relationship that was good. The best times we had were on that bike. Today, I am painting my daughter's room. It is good for me, I love to paint. Lime green...the color of choice (this year) for my 17 year old! I am taking a break because I am getting buzzed from the color! Lol! Whatever the day brings you, I hope you all have a great Sunday. Those of you lucky enough to live out West and are going to ride...be safe!

Hi, Thunderunderme! You live about 1 1/2 hours from me, so I know you can relate to the weather thing! I am sorry to hear of your husband and will take lessons in the spring to learn how to ride on my own. The couples are a hard thing to see, but I am hopeful maybe again I will be 2 up, as you say! If not, I am independent and not afraid to learn something new. Things change..and it is time it changes for the better!! :)

Thanks for the message Koolbreeze. I have now switched to lilac paint as a contrast wall...the lime was getting to me! Painting is my therapy and I am sure getting alot of therapy today!! "They" say things happen for a reason...sometimes I wish "they" would let me know what the reasons are! I guess the journey is to be part of the ride....and I should be looking forward to what lies ahead. Cause what lies behind is not worth going backwards for! My daughter will come home from her dad's and be so surprised what I have done in her room for her! And that will be worth more than anything.....:)

I hear ya.....I also live in Ohio.  My husband, who I rode 2 up w/for 34 years passed away almost 5 years ago now.  That first summer was pure hell for me...hearing the bikes, seeing couples riding, and of course not riding.  So I got my endorsement and put myself in the driver's seat.  I do miss riding w/my husband.  Still enjoy 2 up better.  Sold the scoot this passed June and I miss it dearly.  Hang in there....things change.
