Caltrans to deploy over 5,100 Sensys networks wireless vehicle detection systems

Sensys Networks has announced a major deployment of the Sensys Wireless
Vehicle Detection Systems by Caltrans covering over 1,000 lane-miles in
3 districts. Over 5,100 of the wireless sensors will be installed
throughout the state in over 800 detection stations on California
interstates.

Caltrans manages over 45,000 lane miles of roadways including highly
congested corridors near major metropolitan areas. The Vehicle Detection
System provides Caltrans the accurate vehicle data the agency needs to
monitor and manage traffic flow on these freeways.

Caltrans selected the Sensys Networks wireless technology over
traditional inductive loop technology because of the ease of
installation including minimal lane closure time, as well as the low
level maintenance and calibration that are required with other
technologies.

”We are excited to be chosen by Caltrans and look forward to helping
them reduce congestion around the state. These installations will help
increase mobility on California freeways and take steps toward improving
the air quality in metropolitan areas,” said Amine Haoui, CEO of Sensys
Networks.
