awesome moments...In the wind
Posted On 09/21/08 @ 09:40 am by HarleyTnT

My friend Ghost rider writes  "A ride on a summer afternoon can border on the rapturous. The sheer volume and variety of stimuli is like a bath for my nervous system, an electrical massage for my brain, a systems check for my soul. It tears smiles out of me. "

This excerpt is from one of the very best reads I ever read about the ride experience, and the experience I shared yesterday reminded me of these words. There are so many of these moments while riding but the beginning of the day was so incredible yesterday I have to share.

Few people get to know this experience much less are able to share it with those we are close to, have a bond with, our comrades, our brothers and sisters on the road.
Riding handlebar to handlebar, side by side in the same lane with another rider is such an experience...the combined power of two or more thundering down the roads in perfect connection of energy, metal working in perfect harmony to thrust us through the wind...its a feeling of power and connection few get to ever share.

To get to the ride staging location, I come from the north, and Tony comes from the south to take the 52 freeway to the east where we meet. Without any conversation this morning, I rolled down the usual 805 freeway and exited over the pass and merged on to 52...just at the EXACT moment that Tony was riding on 52 to where I merged right in to share his lane, tires perfectly side by side...you can't believe the most perfect timing this was, neither of us even changing a pulse on the throttle, I glided there beside him as if a cosmic connection pulled us each there at that moment...as we rode side by side thundering together to our destination, with grins from ear to ear at the awesomeness of it all.

I can't even describe the incredible feeling anything close to what it felt...but wow...many awesome experiences I've had but this was one of those moments that you sit back and marvel at...and again I say wow....and I'm still smiling even thinking about it.

yeah, i hear ya..i took off yesterday morning to Ruidoso, with one of my friends.. the highway was full with differant packs of bikes rolling down the highway. Even going through Indian territory(speed zone) we took off 90mph's..sweet!!

It was a beautifil day even the wind turbulance was mild, NO DEER!!lol..it was awesome open highway , from open desert to the pine filled mountain peaks, fresh clean air so sweet, I get a smile so big in me I'm always swallowing tears of over whelming joy..Thanking God ..as the highways dissapear into the blue sky's and thunder head cloads,,WOW..

the journey came to the rally which exploded into a hail storm, and the place was a mudd pit, I waited out the heavey hall and headed back, got caught coming across the white sands sunshine and awesome, doing 90mph..could see at the pass big thunder head, i got worried..it got cold and grey..and then the air was ice cold and you could smell the rain, and see it had rained as the miles rolled along, and bam I was hit with hail stones..OUCH!

I slowed down to 45mph and was able to get off the road, it was afoot of water flooding the desert floor, I refixed my face sheild, and zipped my leather jacket up more, that hail hurts and stings your face and throat..changed to full fingered gloves, took off on the shoulder at 45mph and took a big look up ahead to see the pass was sunshineing, it was about ten miles of hail, but i leaned into it and, and made to the pass..oh I was freezeing by then ,up over the pass..it was like 90 degrees and sunshine'n..me and my lil' kicker bike had another beautiful adventure together.it was only about 300miles but it was so excilerating, and it ended all to soon..
