The Backseat
As I have gotten older, I've been priviledged enough to enjoy and view life from the backseat of a scoot, just like I did when I was younger....
And it suddenly dawned on me that I indeed, have the best view of life from my little throne.
From the moment you balance the scoot and move forward
so I can sling my long legs over the back and settle in,
I can feel a wave of stress...begin to leave my weary mind.
As you fire up your sweet baby and she begins to purr
rhythmically between our loins, I eagerly reach around your waist
and hold on tight...
in anticipation of the REAL living I am about to experience,
yet once again.
Off we go; not knowing our destination and not caring.
The air is crisp and the sky so vivid blue and clear... rich in full color,
you can almost see the Heavens.
We build up speed as you daringly throttle into each ebb and curve. I lean into your strong back and can feel you breathe as
my heart beats wildly into you as we fly.
I close my eyes at points as I let the wind tear gently across my skin.
The warmth and beauty of the sun seemingly shining for only us; for THIS ride!
I open my eyes and have a smile etched into my face...
I can feel LIFE!
You slow down as we reach the top of our world,
walking your baby happily back and forth across the lane,
as we view the world together.
You reach for my hand around your waist and
gently squeeze it;
letting your hand linger there with mine for
just an extra moment or two....
we are one with the Universe,
if only for a moment...
No worries, no expectations or demands placed upon us;
just life and living the way things were meant to be.
You make me feel safe, understood, accepted, loved, alive and
most importantly...FREE!
You know, I use to believe that I would never live my life taking a backseat to anyone or anything;
But I find that I am quite content and happy,
experiencing Life from...
The Backseat.

Well, sorry to hear your Dad had to have surgery for the big C. Better that he had surgery now than just letting it go. I had my bout with it in 2002, surgery and 7 months Chemo. That's the most important factor in beating Cancer... a positive and well informed attitude.My positive energy and prayers are with you both..Please keep me updated as to his progress. Excellent news that they caught it early in all likelihood. Mine was advanced end Stage 3 Colon Cancer with a bowl resection but No colostemy bag thank god. Your Dad's prognosis is really good. Just make sure you are good about getting regular colonoscopies yourself John, since you are at a higher risk with a family history of the disease. Life is fragile and precious.. Hey sexy lady. I've been out for a couple of weeks tending to my Dad. He had to have a little surgery to remove the big "C". I tried to get in and reply earlier today on my phone while at work but it wouldn't work right. All is going pretty good now. Not looking forwad to the snow we are supposed to get tomorrow. That sucks but hopefully it will be gone in a day or two. Hope all is well on your end. Much luv your way Babe
